Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working with Waverley Council to deliver a series of activations as demonstration projects for the draft Evening, Culture and Entertainment Strategy.
In partnership with Cred Consulting, Authority Creative and with support from Council and the wider business community, we designed, managed and delivered 5 activations over a two week period. We brought Bondi Junction to life with family friendly events like camp stories, jazz and live music, extended trading hours and outdoor dining, wellness showcase and live art experience (photos below).
These events highlight potential in making Bondi Junction a more creative, active and vibrant place 5pm. They are also an opportunity to engage and seek feedback from a wider cross section of the community rather than the town hall meeting model or stand-alone online survey. A philosophy we strongly advocate for here at JOC Consulting – engagement through experience.
As part of the process we leveraged insights from our previous experience (including the recently completed Wingham Place Making Project) but also focused on collaboration to achieve a great outcome for the place and client. A tool used in fostering collaboration has been a focus on building rapport through regular and consistent face to face internal and external engagement.
This project’s Outcomes Report will focus on both engagement findings and lessons learnt from the events. It’s been a great experience contributing to Bondi Junction’s desire for a more diverse and active night time economy.
