Ryde Resilience Plan 2030 Consultation

May 6, 2020 | Uncategorised

The City of Ryde is seeking community feedback on the Ryde Resilience Plan 2030, a groundbreaking action plan for resilience at a local government level. JOC Consulting has been helping with community and stakeholder consultation over the past year and will be analysing the results from this round.

City of Ryde aspires to be a leader in resilience and sustainability through holistic and long-term planning, adaptation, preparedness and collaboration. Council is developing the Ryde Resilience Plan 2030 to improve the community’s capacity to prepare, respond and recover from any shocks or stresses over the next 10 years.

Round 1 engagement collated feedback and ideas from over 300 members of the community, to ensure the Resilience Plan is place-specific and addresses the local needs and aspirations of the residents of City of Ryde. JOC Consulting promoted a survey, facilitated workshops and focus groups with residents including people from Korean and Chinese backgrounds, and people with disability. The below distinctions were provided to participants to assist with exploring the lived experience of resilience:

Chronic Stresses: Sustained pressures that negatively affect resident’s day to day and therefore weakens the fabric of the City.
Major Shocks: Shocks are sudden, short-term emergency events that threaten widespread disruption in a city and its inhabitants.
