#ZigZagSyd comes to Devonshire Street!

In partnership with Archrival, JOC Consulting is excited to be working with Transport for NSW, this time to bring #ZigZagSyd to Devonshire Street, Surry Hills.

Similar to our installation at Meeks Street, Kingsford, ZigZag aims to activate unused space, improve pedestrian comfort and encourage gathering during the construction of the CBD and South East Light Rail.

ZigZag at Devonshire Street features artworks celebrating the unique creative identity of Surry Hills by artists (including Joe Wilson, Ali Noble, Lara Merrett and Elin Matilda Anderssonwhose work exhibits a strong connection with the local area. These vibrant artworks were complimented by the City of Sydney’s ‘Living Colour’ planter boxes featuring geometric designs, edible vegetation and flowering natives.

To help inform the install and placement of ZigZag, the JOC Team conducted a site analysis investigating business activity, pedestrian movement, active spaces, climate and shade. Our Site Analysis Report will also be used to inform future activations on (and around) the site.

In delivering this project, our key objective was to assist Transport for NSW in creating an active, temporary space that supports local business while also being attractive for the Surry Hills community and local workers.

If you’re in the area and sharing on social, tag and check out #ZigZagSyd.
